Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai today said that disaster management units should collaborate with the education sector to preserve the future for students and the youth. Addressing an event in New Delhi to commemorate the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, Mr Rai said that framing disaster management policies with the youth in mind and teaching them about it will make them more resilient. He encouraged the use of social media for weather forecasts and natural calamity information as it can reach out to the youth better.
Broaching the subject of the imminent Cyclone Dana over the Bay of Bengal region, the Minister said that adequate preparations have been set-up by the government to prevent any casualty and minimize damage.
