Minister of State for External Affairs and Education, Dr Rajkumar Ranjan on 8th July 2023, Saturday termed as immature the opposition by certain political parties to the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC).
 
Speaking to media persons at Tirur in Malappuram district in Kerala, he said is not appropriate to start a discussion on  the matter before it is introduced in Parliament. He assured that the voice of the people will certainly be respected by the government.
 
Referring to the Manipur issue, he said the state was ruled by Congress from 1950 to 2017 which never respected the multi-ethnic nature of the state's society. He said, the BJP led government was trying to correct the wrong doings of the Congress government, when violence errupted.
