MoS for Culture Meenakshi Lekhi launches Adopt a heritage 2.0 programme in New Delhi

Minister of State for Culture Meenakshi Lekhi today launched Adopt a heritage 2.0 programme in New Delhi to enhance visitor experience at Heritage Site. The programme is envisioned by Archaeological Survey of India to collaborate with the private sector companies, Trust and NGOs. It aims to engage corporate stakeholders in enhancing the amenities at three thousand 697 protected monuments spread across the country, showcasing India's rich culture legacy.
Addressing the gathering through video conferencing, Union Culture Minister G Kishan Reddy said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken several steps after 2014 to enrich the ancient heritage of India. He said, conservation of heritage is also necessary along with the development of the country.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister of State for Culture Meenakshi Lekhi said, through Adopt a Heritage 2.0 programme, the legacy of India's history will be safeguarded for future generations. She stressed on the need to protect the heritage and culture of the country. Mrs Lekhi said, till now only 0.7 percent work was being done on heritage through the corporate social responsibility funds.
