Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shobha Karandlaje reviewed the functioning of Agriculture, Horticulture departments, and ICAR- CITH in a meeting held in Srinagar yesterday.

While addressing the meeting, Union Minister stressed on submission of projects on value addition of different horticulture and agriculture crops so that the socio-economic development of farming community could be achieved. She impressed upon the participants to ensure that representatives of PRIs are taken on board during the implementation of different schemes, programs for the Welfare of the farming Community of the region.

Ms. Shobha asked the officers to increase awareness among the farmers at the Panchayat level so that the desired results under different programmes could be realised. She assured the concerned officers of every possible support from the Union Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare for the development of Agriculture, Horticulture and other allied sectors in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
