Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary today informed the Rajya Sabha that 2 lakh 31 thousand 909 crore rupees has been deposited in 52.74 crore Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, PMJDY accounts till 10th of this month. In a written reply, he said PMJDY was launched as the National Mission for Financial Inclusion on 28th August 2014. Mr Chaudhary said out of these PMJDY accounts, women have 29.32 crore accounts. 35.78 crore RuPay cards have also been issued to the PMJDY account holders so far.

The Minister said a free RuPay debit card with an in-built accident insurance cover of two lakh rupees is given to the PMJDY account holders. Mr Chaudhary said Direct Benefit Transfer, DBT under different Government Schemes can be received by eligible beneficiaries in their Jan-Dhan accounts.
