The Centre today said Waqf Assets Management System of India (WAMSI) portal has been launched to curate the data of the movable and immovable waqf properties in the country.
In a written reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Union Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju informed so far more than 8.72 lakh immovable and 16,713 movable properties have been entered on the WAMSI portal by respective State Waqf Boards (SWBs).
The minister further informed that so far the ownership of 994 waqf properties have been transferred or alienated to other parties.
He said according to Waqf Act 1954 and section 32 of subsequent Waqf Act 1995 the management and general superintendence of all Waqf properties in a state is vested with the state Waqf Boards.
