In Tamil Nadu, high temperatures ranging more than 40 degree celsius has been recorded in 14 districts yesterday. Vellore district had recorded a maximum of 43 degrees, which was 4 degrees higher than the usual temperature.
In Arani, Tiruvannamalai district 1000 hens in a poultry farm were reportedly dead due to the heat.
The Government has set up water pandals in many places after getting permission from the election commission. Advisories have been issued to the public to monitor the health of children and senior citizens and also not to venture out in the hot sun. As school children are on holidays, there is a rush to tourist destinations like Ooty, Kodaikanal and other hill stations. The Government has asked the public to apply for E-passes to visit Ooty and Kodai.
