More than 4.25 lakh pilgrims paid obeisance at Shri Amarnath cave shrine as compared to over 4.5 lakh last year

In Jammu and Kashmir, more than 4.25 lakh pilgrims have already paid obeisance at the Shri Amarnath cave shrine in Anantnag, as compared to over 4.5 lakh last year. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports the 28th batch of 3089 pilgrims today left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas base camp in Jammu for the Kashmir valley to perform a pilgrimage to Amarnath Cave Shrine. The pilgrims left the base camp in a cavalcade of 106 vehicles early this morning amid tight security arrangements. The batch included 2247 men, 745 women, 73 Sadhus, 22 Sadhvies, and two transgenders. Of these, 1286 pilgrims left for Baltal base camp and 1803 for Pahalgam base camp, from where they proceeded for their further journey to the holy cave. Since June 28, when the LG Manoj Sinha flagged off the first batch of Amarnath Yatris from Jammu, 3, 11, 493 pilgrims have embarked from the Jammu base camp. The 52-day yatra, which commenced formally on June 29 from Baltal and Pahalgam base camps, will conclude on August 19.
