More than 1500 street children were rescued so far during a spot field drive this year. The drive was conducted in various States and Union Territories from April this year to the 24th of this month. This was stated by Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani in a written reply in Lok Sabha today. She said, the maximum number of 407 children were rescued from Maharashtra, followed by Andhra Pradesh wherein 310 children were rescued. The Minister said, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has developed a portal namely, Bal-Swaraj CiSS wherein details of all those children who have been rescued from street situations are uploaded.
