More than 13,000 pilgrims visit holy cave shrine of Amarnath on first day of annual pilgrimage amid tight security

More than 13,000 pilgrims visited the holy cave shrine of Amarnath yesterday on the first day of the annual pilgrimage in the south Kashmir Himalayas amid tight security. Early this morning the third batch of 6619 pilgrims left Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Nivas base camp Jammu for Kashmir Valley to perform a pilgrimage to Shri Amarnath ji Shrine cave. In addition to routine Bum Bum Bhole uchharan today we saw devotees chanting Bharat mata ki Jay and Chak De India that reflects the manyfold increase in their enthusiasm after India’s victory in ICC T20 World Cup.

 

 

The cavalcade of 319 vehicles carried 5143 gents 1141 ladies 18 children 241 sadhus and 76 sadhvies. Of these 2781 pilgrims will follow the Baltal route where as 3838 shall start their journey via Pahalgam. For Akashvani News this is Jagmohan Sharma from Jammu. With this, the number of pilgrims who left for the Amarnath cave shrine from the Jammu base camp climbs to 15,251.
