Punjab’s Adampur Civil Airport is gaining popularity among travelers from the state. More flights for Mumbai and Jaipur are scheduled to be started from January next year.
At present, only StarAir airlines is operating flights to Hindon in Faridabad, Nanded and Bengaluru.
Airport Director Pushpendra Nirala told Akashvani that there is a 40 per cent increase in travelers in the last about 8 months as compared to the Covid period.
During 2020 to 2021, there was a footfall of 14,000 passengers as compared to the current 20,000. More than 2,800 passengers are flying from Adampur daily.
The flights to Delhi were stopped in April, 2021 but were resumed on 31 March this year after the newly constructed terminal building of the airport was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
