The monsoon season in the country has ended with 94.4 percent rainfall from June to September this year. The India Meteorological Department said that the southwest monsoon seasonal rainfall over the monsoon core zone, which consists of most of the rainfed agriculture regions in the country, received 101 percent of the long-period average. However, seventy-three percent of the total area and 7 subdivisions received deficient season rainfall.
The IMD further said that normal to above-normal maximum temperatures are likely over most parts of the country in October this year. Above-normal minimum temperature has been predicted over large parts of the country, barring some parts of the northeast next month. Above-normal rainfall is also expected in many parts of northwest India and the south peninsular region from October to December this year.
