Moderate intensity tremor felt in Tripura

In Tripura, a moderate intensity tremor was felt on Tuesday (14 August 023) evening. The quake measuring 5.5 magnitude on the Richter Scale hit a large areas including several parts of Agartala, Khowai, Dhalai districts and neighbouring Karimganj in Assam, Parts of Meghalaya and Sylhet district of Bangladesh.

According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the tremor was occured at 8.19 pm at Cherrapunjee in Meghalaya. The epicenter of the quake was at a depth of 16 km from the surface at the latitude 25.02 and longitude 92.14 at 49 km south east of Cherrapunjee.

According to the officials from West Tripura district, there was no immediate report of any casualty or damage to property.
