Mizoram’s Director General of Police (DGP) Anil Shukla said that the Mizoram Police has made extensive security arrangements for smooth conduct of the upcoming Parliamentary elections.
Speaking to media persons on Monday (15th April 2024) afternoon in Aizawl, the DGP said that the Mizoram Police is fully geared-up for the Lok Sabha polls to be held on April 19. He said that the Central Government has provided 12 Companies of Central Armed Police Forces for the ensuing Parliamentary election. Mr Shukla said that the CAPF are performing duties related to area domination, flag march, patrolling as well as special nakas and check-points for ensuring peaceful, free and fair elections. He also said that the local police and State Armed Police are also performing their duties for smooth conduct of elections leaving nothing to chance.
The DGP further said that the Mizoram Police is working day and night for ensuring Model Code of Conduct properly as laid down by the Election Commission of India. Mr Shukla said that elaborate security arrangements are also being made for 19 critical polling stations.
Mr Shukla informed that inter-state boundaries along Manipur, Tripura and Assam borders are regulated every moment and international boundaries along Myanmar and Bangladesh are also put on vigil and are regulated and would be sealed. He said that wireless communication facilities are also set-up in 19 critical polling stations and far-flung areas by Mizoram Police Radio Organization for timely communication during the process of elections.
The DGP said that the Mizoram Police is initiating steps and preparing continuously so that free and fair elections could be conducted. He also warned that stern action will be taken against those coming to Booth under the influence of any intoxicants.
Mr Shukla calls out to all citizens of the state having franchise to cast their votes under free and calm atmosphere in the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.
Mizoram will go for polls on April 19 where more than 8 lakh voters will cast their votes in 1276 polling stations across the state to decide the political fortune of six candidates who are in the fray for the lone Lok Sabha seat.
