Mizoram: Former CEM of CADC Kali Kumar Tongchangya sentenced to 4 years imprisonment & fine of Rs. 4,00,000 by Special court in Aizawl today

In Mizoram, former Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) Kali Kumar Tongchangya was sentenced to four years imprisonment and a fine of Four Lakh rupees by a Special court in Aizawl today.

The Court under the Prevention of Corruption Act, headed by Special Judge Dr H T C Lalrinchhana sentenced Tongchangya for misappropriation of huge public funds to the tune of more than 1 Crore 79 Lakh. These funds under the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resources were earmarked for road construction, which otherwise were allegedly diverted for purposes related to his party campaign fund and party expenses.
