Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s Joint Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) Tirumala Venkatesh K today highlighted that the country’s movement towards paperless trade is quite noteworthy. Addressing the 5th national summit on Trade Finance for Inclusive Growth organized in New Delhi, Mr. Venkatesh said the country is at forefront of global trade facilitation efforts, with an impressive score of 93.55 per cent. He emphasized that the country’s performance in United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia Pacific’s (UNESCAP) Global Survey on Digital and Sustainable Trade Facilitation is a clear indicator of progress.
He also urged traders, stakeholders, bankers and officials to identify global best practices, trends in technology and future developments in the area of trade finance to address future needs of the country.
Meanwhile, NITI Aayog’s Senior Advisor Sanjeet Singh urged a discussion on trade finance to witness country as an advanced nation by 2047. He said, the innovative solutions in front of us will arise once we consider ourselves to be partners in progress.
