Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare is organizing a national workshop in New Delhi today on formation and promotion of 10 thousand Farmers Producers Organisation, FPOs across the country. Speaking during the inaugural session, Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Secretary Manoj Ahuja said, FPOs are instrumental in reducing the loss and wastage in the value chain system of agriculture sector.
He said, FPOs can play vital role in bringing efficiency in the entire agriculture ecosystem. Highlighting the importance of capacity building of FPOs, Mr. Ahuja said, the government has lots of expectation with this programme. He urged the FPOs to work with dedication to achieve the targets and address the issues collectively.Center had launched the Central Sector Scheme for formation and Promotion of ten thousand FPOs in 2020 with a total budgetary outlay of over six thousand eight hundred crore rupees.
