IMD has predicted that a deep depression formed over Kutch, region is expected to turn into a cyclone it is likely to move towards Pakistan in the North eastern Arabian sea. The cyclone named Asana will be the first of its kind since 1976.
Meanwhile IMD has predicted heavy showers in Kutch region today. Our correspondent reports that the district administration has geared up with the precautionary measures in view of the cyclone.
Although the intensity of rains has significantly reduced in Kutch district since morning the district administration has taken wide steps in view of the possible cyclone. District Collector has urged people to be alert and avoid unnecessary movement. People living in coastal areas are being shifted to safer locations. Three number Signals have been put up at Mundra, Kandla and Jakhao Ports. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during the next 3 days. Following the torrential rainfall in Mandvi abbasa and Lakhpat tahsils of Kutch mobile networks having severely affected.
