Punjab has been experiencing scorching heat for last few days. The Meteorological Department has predicted a further increase in heat in the coming days. The state government has announced the summer vacation in schools from 1st of June.
Entire Punjab is in the grip of extreme heat these days. The hot winds blowing since the morning have continuously troubled the people and also disrupted normal life. The Met Department has issued orange and yellow alerts from May 18 to 20 regarding the severe heat wave. During this period the temperature can go up to 44 to 46 degrees celsius.
Meanwhile, the sudden rise in wheat residue fire incidents in the fields is increasing the woes of the people. The number of these incidents reached up to 8 thousand 500 till last evening.
