In Ladakh, the Election Authority/Deputy Commissioner/CEO, LAHDC, Kargil, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, presided over a meeting of district and police officers to ensure smooth and equitable execution of the 5th general elections for LAHDC Kargil.
 
Present at the meeting were SP Kargil, Anayat Ali Chaudhary, ADC Kargil, Ghulam Mohi-Ud-Din Wani, ACR Kargil, Muhammad Sharief, Chief Controller of Finance, Iftikhar Hussain, Deputy District Election Officer Kargil, Election Naib Tehsildar Kargil, along with all Nodal Officers, the designated flying squad teams for the LAHDC elections-2023, and other officers. SDM Zanskar along with the flying squad team of Zanskar Joined the meeting virtually.
 
The meeting's agenda encompassed the oversight of Model Code of Conduct (MCC), law and order, Video Surveillance Teams (VST), EMM, and other pertinent aspects crucial for the seamless execution of the district's election process.
 
The process will commence with the initiation of nominations on August 16, 2023. Prospective candidates will have until August 23, 2023, to submit their nominations. Subsequently, the scrutiny of nominations will take place on August 24, followed by the last date for the withdrawal of nominations on August 26, 2023. Polling is scheduled for September 09, 2023, with voting set to occur between 8 AM and 4 PM and with counting of votes on September 14. The entire election procedure is expected to conclude before September 20, 2023.
