Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar today said that the media should be an agent to convey right perspectives to understand India rather than be a prey to orchestrated narratives that taint and tarnish the country’s image. Mr. Dhankar said this while addressing the gathering at an award ceremony of a private media house in New Delhi. He emphasised that the credibility of the media lies solely within its own control, by being objective and not getting involved in politics. He cautioned that the media should take all precautions for not becoming a registered, recognized or unrecognized political party. He further highlighted that the media should be a watchdog and curb misinformation.
The Vice President also underlined that CAA is aimed at providing relief to persecuted religious minorities in India’s neighbourhood. He said, CAA does not deprive any Indian citizen of his or her citizenship.
