Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today said maximum use of technology is a must for accessible and affordable healthcare. He said this while presiding over an awareness session organised by the Parliamentary Research and Training Institute for Democracies in collaboration with the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences on the occasion of World Hepatitis Day in Parliament House Complex. He felt that in view of the lack of awareness and disease scrutiny, a large number of people die every year due to hepatitis in the country. Mr Birla observed that there is a need for public representatives at every level from Parliament to Panchayat to spread awareness among the common people. He expressed confidence nation would achieve all its goals through the collective efforts of the people and the government. The Speaker mentioned that the National Viral Hepatitis Control Program under the aegis of the National Health Mission is working with a focused approach to the control and management of Hepatitis. He added that an integrated approach and long-term vision have shown encouraging results in the field of healthcare.
