Market Update: Stock markets continue with record-breaking streak 

The stock markets continued their record-breaking streak today, with the Sensex surpassing 81,000 for the first time and the Nifty reaching 24,800. The BSE Sensex advanced by 627 points, or 0.78 percent, to close at 81,343. The NSE Nifty was up by  188 points, or 0.76 percent, to close at 24,801. In Nifty, 145 Companies hit their 52-week high, 19 hit their 52-week low. In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap index was down by 0.1 percent, while the Small-cap index fell 1.15 percent. 22 out of 30 companies registered gains in the Sensex index. The top three gainers today were, TCS 3.33 percent, Bajaj Finance 2.57 percent and Mahendra and Mahendra 2.32 percent. 

 

 

 

Conversely, the three major laggards were, Asian Paint 1.5 percent, JSW Steel 0.89 percent and NTPC 0.71 percent. In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 8 out of 20 sectors logged gain. The top gainers were, Teck and Information Technology 1.84 percent, FMCG 0.86 percent and Telecommunication 0.63 percent. Conversely, the major laggards were, Industrials and Capital Goods two percent, Power 1.73 percent and Utilities 1 percent.

 

 

 

Two out of five Asian Major Indices are in Green today. China’s Shanghai Composite Index inched up 0.48 percent, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index added 0.22 percent. Whereas, Japan’s Nikkei lost 2.42 percent, South Korea’s Kospi down by 0.67 percent and Singapore’s Straits Times index slid 0.53 percent. All three European major Indices are in Green today. U.K.’s FTSE increased by 0.58 percent, France’s CAC 40 also added 0.52 percent and Germany’s DAX gained 0.2 percent, when reports last came in.

 

 

 

Brent and WTI Crude experiencing a downward trend and trading at a loss in the Global Crude Market today. Brent crude decreased by 0.2 percent, to 84 dollars and nine cents per barrel. The U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) is down by 0.12 percent, to 82 dollars and 75 cents per barrel, when reports last came in.
