India’s Equity Benchmark Indices, Sensex and Nifty ended with marginal losses today. The BSE Sensex declined 109 points, or 0.14 percent, to close at 80,040. The NSE Nifty shed 7 points, or 0.03 percent, to close at 24,406.
In the broader market at the BSE, the Mid-Cap index down by 0.22 percent, while the Small-cap index slid 0.14 percent.
13 out of 30 companies registered gains in the Sensex index. The top 3 gainers today were, Tata Motors 6 percent, Larson Tubro 3 percent and Sun Pharma 2.8 percent. Conversely, the major laggards were, Axis Bank 5 percent, Nestle India 2 and half a percent and ICICI Bank and Titan 2 percent.
In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 10 out of 20 sectors logged gain. The top gainers were, Oil and Gass 3 percent, Energy 1.7 percent and Auto 1.2 percent. Conversely, the major laggards were, Metal 1.2 percent, Bankex 1 percent and realty 0.8 percent.
The overall market breadth at the BSE was positive, out of 4023 Companies, shares of 2097 Companies advanced, 1812 declined and 114 remain unchanged.
