Market ends low today for fifth consecutive session

Domestic benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty ended lower today, extending losses for the fifth consecutive session amid weak global cues. The markets logged their biggest weekly drop since June 2022.
At close, the Sensex slumped 808 points, or 0.9 percent to close at 81,688, while the Nifty declined 200 points, or 0.7 percent to settle at 25,049.

In the NSE, 60 companies hit their 52 week high, 67 hit their 52 week low. The broader market at BSE also ended in negative territory. The MidCap index slipped 0.9 percent and the SmallCap index lost 0.8 percent. In the Sensex index, 22 out of 30 companies ended in negative territory.

The top laggards today were, Mahindra and Mahindra declined more than three and half percent, Bajaj Finance lost more than three percent, and Nestle India fell more than two and a half percent.
Conversely, the top gainers today were, Infosys increased 1.3 percent, Tech Mahindra gained 0.8 per cent, and Tata Motors added more than half per cent.

In Sectoral Indices at the BSE, 19 out of 20 sectors logged losses.
The top laggards today were, FMCG as well as Realty fell more than one and half per cent, Auto shed one and half percent and Consumer Durables slipped more than one per cent.
Meanwhile, the only gainer today was, Information Technology which gained 0.4 percent.

The overall market breadth at the BSE was negative as out of 4,054 Companies, shares of 1,563 advanced, 2,387 declined and 104 remained unchanged.
