Prime Minister Narendra Modi today embarked on a three-day visit to UAE and Qatar. In his departure statement, the Prime Minister said, it will be his seventh visit to the UAE and second visit to Qatar since 2014. He said, over the last nine years, India's cooperation with UAE in diverse sectors such as trade and investment, defence and security, food and energy security and education has grown manifold. He said, the cultural and people-to-people connect is stronger than ever.


The Prime Minister said, he is looking forward to meet President of UAE Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Abu Dhabi and hold wide-ranging discussions on taking forward the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. The Prime Minister said, he had the privilege of hosting Mr Al Nahyan recently in Gujarat, where he was the Chief Guest at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in January this year.


"Upon arrival, Prime Minister will hold talks with President of the UAE Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Later in the day, he will address the Indian community at the Zayed Sports City Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The event is termed as Ahlan Modi, which translates to 'Welcome Modi,' and it is anticipated to be one of the largest Indian community events in the UAE.


On February 14th, PM MODI will inaugurate B.A.P.S Mandir, the largest Hindu stone temple in the Middle East, which is located in Abu Dhabi. Additionally, he will hold bilateral meetings with the Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. At his invitation, PM Modi will participate in the World Government Summit 2024 in Dubai as a guest of honor and will deliver a special keynote address at the summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that government is committed to the internationalisation goals for India's educational institutions as outlined in the National Education Policy. He said, the IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi campus and the IIT-Madras Zanzibar campus underscore this commitment. Mr Modi shared an article penned by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.


Mr Pradhan has said that Prime Minister Modi's visit to IIT - Delhi Abu Dhabi campus will boost efforts to export the best of Indian education abroad.

President Droupadi Murmu shared her journey from Rairangpur, her birthplace in Odisha, to Rashtrapati Bhawan in an exclusive interaction with the Union Minister of Women and Child Development, Smriti Irani, in the concluding episode of ‘Nai Soch Nai Kahani- A Radio Journey with Smriti Irani’ on Akashvani. The special episode was recorded at Rashtrapati Bhawan and broadcast on the occasion of World Radio Day, today. The President shared a myriad of experiences, beginning with her childhood to becoming a public figure. She fondly described the story behind her name, which was given to her by her school teacher.


The President delved into her educational, professional and political journey. She shared her experiences of interacting with the masses as the President of India.  President Murmu recounted how an ordinary tribal woman like her overcame several hardships and went on to achieve her aim of serving the nation through her grit, dedication and determination.

The President also recalled the historic day when she first arrived into the new Parliament, with the Sengol being carried in front of her.

The President shared her gratitude to her government for coming up with schemes like Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan -- PM-JANMAN. The initiative is aimed at the welfare of the tribal population, especially the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs).


The President also shared her vision for a developed nation by 2047. The episode will be re-broadcast on the entire network of Akashvani Rainbow at 7 PM. It is also available on all social media platforms of Akashvani.

Delhi Airport has advised passengers to plan their travel ahead of the farmers' protests starting today at various borders of Delhi. It has advised people to follow the traffic diversion and stay informed about the delay and alternative routes. It has also urged people to utilize the metro line to reach the airports, magenta line for terminal I and airport line for terminal III for their convenience.

President Draupadi Murmu is in Gujarat's Valsad today. She said it is a time to recall our age-old spiritualism that focuses on mental peace. Speaking at an event organised by Srimad Rajchandra Mission at Dharampur, the President said, India inherits the culture of harmony and believes that the whole world is one family. She said, when other countries were expansionist, India worked for betterment of humanity. President said, with changing time, we are going away from our spiritual legacy and giving importance to material pleasures. She emphasised the need to understand our legacy of spirituality and conserve it. She also lauded the contribution of Jain saints and Jainism to society.

Just a day after quitting the Congress, Maharashtra’s former Chief Minister Ashok Chavan today joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Mr. Chavan joined BJP in the presence of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Chief of Maharashtra BJP Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar among others.  Mr. Chavan said the day marks the beginning of his new political career.  Ashok Chavan hails from Nanded district in Marathwada region. He represented Bhokar assembly seat and is also the former MP from Nanded Lok Sabha constituency.

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) mains -2024 result has been declared. The Candidates who have appeared for the JEE Main 2024 session one examination can check their result through the official website at jeemain.nta.ac.in. National Testing Agency has said that twenty-three candidates have bagged the perfect 100 score in the exam. Talking to Akashvani, DG, National Testing Agency, Subodh Kant Singh informed that over 11 lakh 70 thousand candidates had appeared for the first edition of the engineering entrance exam.

Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar will present the Assam government's highest civilian awards ‘Assam Baibhav', ‘Assam Saurabh’, and ‘Assam Gaurav’ in Guwahati today. The State government has selected Twenty two individuals from diverse sectors to be conferred with the award for their outstanding contributions.


Member of Parliament and former Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi will be conferred with the Assam Baibhav. The Assam Saurav will be awarded to four individuals while Assam Gaurav will be awarded to 17 people including Ranjit Kumar Gogoi, Parvati Barua, Debojit Changmai, Drono Bhuyan and Neelan Dutta.

In Nagaland, 14 regional Connectivity routes will be launched under UDAN 5.1. Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio said, routes connecting Dimapur, Mokokchung, Kohima, Zunheboto, Phek and Tuensang districts including Jorhat Airport will be launched in Phase-I. In this regard, the Chief Minister yesterday met with officials from Pawan Hans Ltd.

Telangana state Legislature Assembly and Legislature Council have passed the Cigarette and other Tobacco Products (Amendment) Bill 2024, proposing to completely ban all hookah parlours in the state. Both houses passed the bill unanimously. Moving the Bill, Legislative Affairs minister D. Sridhar Babu said, anyone found running hookah parlours will face strict punishment, including imprisonment up to seven years along with fines between 50 thousand rupees to Two lakh rupees.

Eighteen fishermen from Ramanathapuram, who were arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy for allegedly trespassing into their territorial waters, were released from the Sri Lankan prison. They reached Chennai early this morning. They were released from the prison on the 31st of last month and were handed over to the Indian High Commission. After Covid tests and certain formalities they were sent from Srilanka. On reaching Chennai, the State Government made arrangements for them to reach their respective native places.

Almost a dozen Independent candidates, who won the Pakistan general elections on 8th February, have joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) as per local media reports. Former Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of Parliamentary Affairs, Chaudhry Muhammad Adnan, was gunned down by unidentified assailants in Rawalpindi. Thousands of protesters have blocked highways and started a day-long strike to demonstrate against the results of elections, amid claims of vote rigging and tampering. Thousands took to the streets over the weekend in Lahore, where dozens were arrested. A gathering of about 200 PTI supporters in Lahore was dispersed quickly after police moved in with riot shields and batons. Yesterday, the party organised further protests. According to local media, two PTI workers were killed and 12 others injured when the police had opened fire during a protest demonstration held in Shangla's district headquarters, Alpuri, last week amid allegations of manipulation in the poll results.

US Central Command, CENTCOM has said that Iranian-backed Houthi militants fired two missiles from Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen towards the Bab al-Mandeb Strait. Both missiles were launched yesterday towards a Greek-owned, Marshall Islands-flagged cargo vessel, MV Star Iris, transiting the Red Sea. It was carrying corn from Brazil. The ship suffered minor damage, however, no one was injured. The Iranian-backed Houthi rebels have been targeting these ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden since November as Israel carried out a ground offensive against the Hamas terror group in the Gaza Strip.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that in order to further sustainable development and people’s wellbeing, Government is launching the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. In a social media post, Mr Modi said, this project, with an investment of over 75 thousand crore rupees aims to light up one crore households by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month.

The Badminton Asia Team Championships 2024 began today in Shah Alam, Malaysia. This biennial event will conclude on 18th of this month. India's first match is scheduled for tomorrow against Hong Kong in the men's team event. The winners of this championship will be considered as the Asian qualifier for Thomas and Uber Cups - the badminton world men's and women's team championships, scheduled to take place in Chengdu, People's Republic of China from 28th of April to 5th of May this year.

In the Li Ning Sri Lanka International Badminton Challenge 2024, Khelo India athletes have emerged as outperformers. In Women's singles, Isha Rani Baruah won Gold while Rakshitha Sree S won Silver. In Men's category Rithvik Sanjeevi S won Silver medal. The Sri Lanka Badminton Association conducted the Li Ning International Badminton Challenge 2024 at Galle between 5th to 11th of this month. Over 200 players from 14 countries took part in the challenge, which will be followed by the Li Ning Sri Lanka International Badminton Series 2024 starting today.

Nagaland will be co-hosting wrestling as part of the Khelo India University Games scheduled to be held from 22nd to 26th February in Kohima. Assam is the main host of the fourth edition of the Khelo India University Games. Other North Eastern states are also co-hosting various disciplines.
