External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar today slammed Canada for allowing the celebration of the assassination of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He was replying to a question after briefing the media on nine years of the Narendra Modi Government in New Delhi today. Dr Jaishankar said, space given to separatists, extremists and people who advocate violence in Canada, is not good for its relationship with India.
Responding to a media query about the fate of nearly 700 Indian students who are probably going to face deportation next week by the Canadian government, Dr Jaishankar said that it is unfair on part of the Canadian authorities to punish the students who undertook their education in good faith.
Earlier, during the briefing Dr Jaishankar said, India’s foreign policy reflects the country’s greater influence, bigger footprint, new concept, and strong delivery in recent years. He said the activities of Indian diplomacy have made the nation more secure and economically strong. He said India is countering Chinese actions on the northern borders and has de-legitimized cross-border terror from Pakistan which has enhanced security. He said India has taken a clear stance on the Belt and road initiative and the situation on northern borders.
External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar today met displaced families from Kabul as part of a mega public outreach campaign Sampark Se Samarthan in New Delhi and inquired about their well-being. Later speaking to the media, he said that the government is with the displaced families and favourable decisions will be taken for them under better conditions. The External Affairs Minister said that many people want to return and also want to keep their passports. Dr Jaishankar said that the government wants to find a better solution in this matter.
In Manipur, no incident of violence has been reported in the last 48 hours and the situation remained peaceful and under control. In a statement, Advisor (Security) to the government of Manipur, Kuldiep Singh said, the curfew relaxation has been made for 12 hours in five valley districts and ten hours in neighboring hill districts. There is no curfew in six other hill districts.
In order to provide relief to displaced people in Manipur, the Ministry of Home Affairs has approved over 101 crore rupees relief package. It said, Senior officers have visited and are camping in vulnerable areas. Strict security measures have been taken up in all vulnerable areas. Further, the combined team of State and Central forces have intensified combing operations in many parts of the state.
President Droupadi Murmu has urged business leaders of Serbia to take advantage of large potential for trade and investment between two nations. Briefing joint press conference with her Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic, after the conclusion of delegation level talks at Belgrade, President Murmu said that relations between India and Serbia have been unique since the days of the Non-Alignment Movement and are based on mutual trust, mutual understanding and support for each other on issues of core interest.
Talking about the future of India Serbia relations, President Murmu highlighted the areas of potential cooperation, especially in trade and investment, science and technology, digital technologies and people-to-people contacts.
President of Serbia, Mr. Vucic promised simplification of the issue of Visa to Indians. He also explored starting direct flights between the 2 countries to promote tourism and have greater business engagement.
After media briefing, both leaders addressed the high level business delegations of both the countries.
The BJP has accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of spreading hate against India during his visit to the United States. BJP leaders Colonel Rajyavardhan Rathore, Parvesh Sahib Singh and Poonam Mahajan have written to Mr Gandhi, saying the highest number of riots took place in their reign. The letter said, Rahul gandhi is running a fake narrative in the name of Mohabbat Ki Dukan, but in reality the Congress party disrespected its senior leaders.

This scheme is making a significant contribution in improving the sex ratio at birth and preventing female feticide by promoting positive behavioural change towards the girl child. The Cooperation Ministry has taken five important decisions to realize Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Sahkar Se Samridhi. The Ministry said, Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) will be connected with the marketing of organic fertilizers, especially Fermented Organic Manure and Liquid Fermented Organic Manure. On the basis of mapping, PACS which are not functioning as fertilizer retailers will be identified and they will be encouraged to function as retailers on the basis of feasibility in a phased manner. These decisions were taken in a meeting of Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah with Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi today.
The Ministry of Coal held a commercial auction of coal mines in New Delhi today. Vesting orders for 22 coal mines were issued to successful bidders. The Ministry said, sixteen coal mines are fully explored mines while six mines are partially explored ones. The cumulative peak rated capacity of 22 coal mines is 53 million tonne per annum. These mines are expected to generate an annual revenue of nine thousand 831 crore rupees and will attract capital investment of around eight thousand crore rupeess. It will also provide employment to over 71 thousand people directly and indirectly.
Union Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya has said that number of MBBS seats in the country has crossed the one lakh seven thousand mark. He said, eight thousand 195 MBBS Under Graduate seats have been added this year. Dr Mandaviya said, 50 medical colleges including 30 government and 20 private colleges have been added this year. Now the total number of medical colleges in the country has reached the seven hundred two mark.
The Union Health Ministry today organized a webinar on Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Diseases to empower medical officers posted in Primary Health Centres, Community health centres and district hospitals. Over seven thousand medical officers joined the Webinar.

RBI Governor Shaktikant Das announced some additional measures after informing decisions of the Monetary Policy Committee today. He informed that the scope and reach of e-Rupi vouchers are proposed to expand by permitting non bank prepaid payment instruments issuers to issue e- Rupi vouchers. It will enable them to issue e- Rupi vouchers on behalf of individuals and simplify the process.
Mr Das said that the RBI has also decided to issue guidelines on Default Loss Guarantee arrangements in Digital Lending to further promote responsible innovation and prudent risk management.
The National Human Rights Commission, NHRC has issued notice to the Rajasthan Government over the reported sexual assault of six students by the Principal of a government school in Dungarpur. Taking suo moto cognizance of media reports, the Commission issued notices to the Chief Secretary of the state and the Director General of Police and called for a detailed report within four weeks.
In Afghanistan, at least 15 people were killed and 50 injured in a blast during a funeral service for an acting provincial governor at Nabawi mosque in Faizabad, Tolo News said today. Provincial governor Nisar Ahmad Ahmadi was assassinated by a suicide bomber on 6th June when the bomber drove a car filled with explosives into his vehicle. Ahmadi's driver was also killed and six others were injured in the attack. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for Ahmadi's killing. Former president of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai condemned the attack calling it an act of terrorism and expressed sympathy for the affected families. He said that the attack is against human and Islamic standards.
The first edition of India, France and UAE Maritime Partnership Exercise commenced yesterday in the Gulf of Oman. The Defence Ministry said, INS Tarkash and French Ship Surcouf both with integral helicopters, French Rafale aircraft and UAE Navy Maritime Patrol Aircraft are participating in the exercise.
Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur today reviewed India's preparedness for the upcoming Asian Games during the 100th Mission Olympic Cell (MOC) meeting held in New Delhi. The review meeting took place as part of two-day MOC meeting which is taking place in Delhi's Dr Karni Singh Shooting Range.
The meeting was attended by Joint Secretary, Indian Olympics Association Kalyan Chaube and President of Adille Summariwala. Eminent athletes, who are part of MOC also participated in the meeting. Asian Games 2022 is set to take place from September 23rd to October 8th this year in Hangzhou, China.
