Prime MinisterNarendra Modi will participate in the outreach sessions of the G7 Summit on the12th and 13th of June in a virtual format. Briefing media yesterday, ExternalAffairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said, the UK currently holds thepresidency of the G7 and has invited India along with South Korea and SouthAfrica as guest countries for the G7 Summit.

This is the secondtime Prime Minister Modi will be participating in G7.


Leaders at the G-7summit in the UK will call for a new transparent investigation by the WHO intothe origins of Coronavirus. According to a draft communique, the G-7 countrieswill also pledge 1 billion doses of Corona vaccine for countries around theworld. The leaders of G-7 states - Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, theUK and the US will gather in the British sea-side resort of Cornwall for thethree-day summit beginning today.


India first backedthe call for further investigation on the 28th of May, days after US PresidentJoe Biden asked intelligence agencies to redouble their efforts to gatherinformation to facilitate a definitive conclusion on the origin of theCoronavirus.


The Centre has so far provided more than 25crore 60 lakh vaccine doses to States and Union Territories. The vaccines havebeen provided both through the Centre's free of cost channel and through thedirect state procurement category. The Union Health Ministry has informed thatso far over 24 crore 44 lakh doses of the vaccines have been consumed includingwastages.


It added that more than 1 crore 17 lakh COVID vaccinedoses are still available with the States and Union Territories to beadministered. The Ministry said more than 38 lakh 21 thousand vaccine doses arein the pipeline and will be received by the States and Union Territories withinthe next 3 days.


India's active COVIDcaseload has further declined to 11 lakh 21 thousand and 671. There has been anet decrease of 46 thousand 281 in active cases in the last 24 hours. Accordingto the Health Ministry,  India reportedless than one lakh cases for the 4th day with 91 thousand 702 new cases in thelast 24 hours.  Recoveries continue tooutnumber the daily new cases for the 29th consecutive day. The recovery rateimproved to 94.93 percent.


One lakh 34 thousand580 patients recovered during the last 24 hours taking the total recoveries toover two crore 77 lakh 90 thousand across the country so far. 


Three thousand 403deaths were reported in the last 24 hours taking the death toll to 3 lakh 63thousand and 79. Testing capacity has been substantially ramped up and 37.42crore tests have been conducted in total. Over 24.6 crore Vaccine Doses have been administered so far under theNationwide Vaccination Drive. 


Health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has said, India iswith all the nations in the  fightagainst the deadly HIV disease. Addressing the 75th session of the UnitedNations General Assembly on prevention of HIV/AIDS, Dr Vardhan said, India isproviding free anti-retro-viral treatment to close to 1.4 million people. Hehowever stressed that there is a need to achieve zero new transmission of HIVif the promise of ending AIDS in the next 10 years is to be delivered. TheMinister applauded the efforts of healthcare providers and frontline workersincluding outreach workers who have walked the extra mile risking their livesduring COVID- 19 to ensure that no Person living with HIV is left withoutmedication. He said, India’s National AIDS Control Program has been Revised,Revived and Revamped to focus on hard-to-reach and at-risk populations.


In Bihar, over one crore 16 lakh 55 thousand peoplehave been vaccinated in the state so far. Out of these, 22 lakh 94 people arefrom the age group of 18 to 44 years.


Meanwhile, the state's recovery rate has risen toabout 98 per cent, while the test positivity rate has declined to below one percent and it is 0.51 per cent. Corona cases are below 10 in more than  half the districts of the state. The number of active cases is alsodecreasing and presently stands at six thousand 895. About seven lakh peoplehave so far recovered from the infection. In all, 551  fresh cases were reported in the state duringthe last 24 hours and one  thousand 985people recovered yesterday.


In Gujarat, a major unlocking process begins fromtoday following sharp fall in Covid19 cases. According to the new unlockguidelines; all religious places along with markets have opened from this morning with certain restrictions.  The state government has granted permissionto open various sectors of the economy, including hotels, restaurants, gyms andreligious places. The decision to ease the mini-lockdown was announced two daysago in a state level core committee meeting at Gandhinagar.


"Following the major unlocking after the deadlysecond wave of Covid19, the hotels, restaurants, markets and religious placeshave been opened from today. Now Hotels and restaurants can operate between 9AM to 7 PM with 50 per cent sitting capacity. The state government has alsoallowed the opening of parks, gardens and libraries between 6 AM to 7 PM. Thepolitical, social, religious, and cultural programs will be held with theattendance of maximum 50 persons. Famous Somnath and Ambaji temples are providingonline booking slots for the devotees. All commercial establishments including shops remain open 9 AM to 7 PM.Examinations and tests required for admissions to colleges and universities inforeign countries can also be held. Yogesh Pandya, AIR News, Ahmedabad."


The night curfew will however, continue in 36 citiesof the state from 9 PM to 6 AM. Cinema halls and multiplexes will remainclosed. State government is likely to announce more unlock measures from the26th of June after reviewing the Covid19 situation.


In Rajasthan, people belonging to the special sectionsof society are being vaccinated on priority, which includes the migrants fromPakistan. Following the guidelines of the Central Government, specialvaccination sessions are being organized by the Medical Department. 


"Special arrangements have been made forsuch groups of people for Covid vaccination, who do not have any photo ID cardor are not able to register themselves on Cowin software. There are about 30thousand Pak Migrants residing in different districts of the state. Specialvaccination sessions are being organized today for such Pak migrants inJaisalmer district. 700 Pak Migrants have been vaccinated in Jodhpur districtso far. The prisoners in the various jails have been vaccinated through specialvaccination sessions. Thousands of differently abled people, nomadic, helplesspeople and other special sections of the society are getting benefited by thisinitiative. - Jitendra Dwivedi, AIR News, Jaipur."


Madhya Pradesh reported 420 new covid 19 cases and 34deaths while 1,132 patients  recoveredfrom the infection yesterday.  The numberof active cases reduced to 6,325 while positivity rate stands at 0.5 percent.


Forty nine out of 52 districts reported below 10Covid-19 cases. Indore reported 129 while Bhopal reported 107 new positivecases. Eight districts including Shahdol, Damoh, Panna, Mandala, Harda,Alirajpur, Agar-Malwa and Bhind recorded no positive case. Meanwhile , Mediaunits of Ministry of Information and Broadcasting are also conducting awarenessdrive for vaccination. UNICEF and the Press Information Bureau, in partnershipwith the state health department organised an interactive session onvaccination for farmers. Maharashtra reported 12,207 new Covid-19 cases and 393fatalities yesterday, pushing the state’s infection tally to 58,76,087 and thedeath toll to One Lakh  Three Thousand,748.


"Thursday’s covid case count is slightly higherthan what the Maharashtra had been reporting over the last three days. Thenumber of daily cases in state had dipped to around 10,000 in the past fewdays. According to the latest health bulletin, the Maharashtra has One Lakh,Sixty thousand,693 active cases of the disease. The state’s recovery ratecurrently stands at 95.45 per cent and the fatality rate is 1.77 per cent. Outof the new cases, 655 infections were recorded in Mumbai. The city alsoreported 22 deaths in the last 24 hours. The death toll in Mumbai has nowreached 15thousand 55. Bhavana Gokhale,AIR news,Mumbai."


The Jharkhandgovernment has cancelled the Board Exam for Class 10th and 12th for thissession. In a tweet, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said 10th and 12th board examshave been cancelled in view of the circumstances arising out of Covid-19 andthe demand of students and parents.


"Afterthe announcement of cancellation of 10 and 12 Board examinations by the stategovernment, Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) is gearing up for the preparationof results of around 4.40 lakh students and 3.32 lakh students who hadregistered for the 10 and 12 state board examinations. JAC will study theresult assessment methodology of CBSE and CISCE board for preparation of the boardexam results. Results of class 9 and 11 board exams respectively will also beconsidered in the process. JAC conducts board exams for classes 8th, 9th and11th every year. Meanwhile, JAC Secretary Mahip Kumar Singh said that thesyllabus was revised for this year’s board examinations and there was a 40 percent reduction in the course with a change in examination pattern. The state governmenthas also extended the restrictions till June 17 with some relaxation. However,there will be, complete lockdown on every Saturday from 4 pm to Monday 6 am.The State government has put many restrictions or (mini lockdown) in the nameof Health Safety Week since April 22. All shops are being allowed to open till4 pm in all the districts except East Singhbhum.


A High Level weekly review meeting was held under thechairmanship of the Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajanthrough Video Conference from Telangana. She took the stock of the status ofCOVID management and the progress of Vaccination.

"Lt. Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajanappraised herself about the ongoing vaccination programme and the fall out ofrecent relaxations in lockdown. She said that the safety normal needs to bedrilled down without any let up in enforcement and regulation. Health SecretaryDr Arun informed that Paediatrics Covid Committee had been set up in the wakeof the perception that the anticipated third wave of Corona would affectchildren and steps have been taken to procure medical equipments for thetreatment of children. Defence minister Rajnath Singh today lauded theworkers of Border Roads Organization ( BRO) for their commitment and tenacityin nation building. Speaking to the Karmayogis of BRO, Mr Singh said, In thelast five to seven years, BRO has made remarkable achievements. Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Ravi ShankarPrasad criticized Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today on his proposeddoor step delivery of ration scheme. The Minister said that the door stepration delivery scheme is in direct contravention with the National FoodSecurity Act, 2013 and has been devised only in order to benefit the rationmafias in the capital city. Mr. Prasad asked as to why the One Nation , OneRation Card scheme has not been implemented in Delhi. The BJP leader assertedthat as per the NFSA Act, ration has to be given to the beneficiaries only froma fair price shop. He highlighted the transparent nature of the provisions ofthe Act and said that door delivery of ration will create avenues where rationcan be siphoned off for black marketing. Mr. Prasad informed that all Statesand UTs have implemented the One Nation, One Ration Card scheme except threeincluding Delhi. He urged the remaining State and UT governments to join thescheme in order to facilitate easy and comfortable rationing of food grains andother benefits to the beneficiaries.


The Education Ministry has developed an online modulefor compiling out-of-school children's data identified by each State and UnionTerritory and map it with Special Training Centres on the PRABANDH portal.Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank has informed that Child-wiseinformation of the identified out of school children and Special TrainingCentres for them will be uploaded at block level under the Block ResourceCoordinators. He said a quarterly progress report and a user manual had alsobeen shared on the samagra siksha portal in order to assess the scheme on atimely basis. 


Tamilnadu Chief MinisterM.K.Stalin who is on a two day tour to Cauvery delta region in the Statereviewed the works carried out at Kallanai reservoir. State Ministers, MPs andsenior officials of the water resources and agriculture ministry alsoaccompanied the Chief Minister to brief him on the developments. Inspector General Anand Prakash Badola took overcharge of the Coast Guard region EAST at Chennai today.
