Many parts of Maharashtra are witnessing vibrant and colourful Holi this year. Today, Dhulivandan is being celebrated in many parts of Maharashtra. Various special arrangements, parties are arranged in Major cities of the state. At some places eco-friendly celebrations are being observed. In Kokan region this festival is called shimga where along with holi a Palkhi festival is celebrated in many villages.
In Mumbai’s Dharavi area this year Palkhi of redevelopment participated in the celebration. Satpuda region’s Kathi dynasty’s Rajwadi holi is popular among the tribals. Tribal peoples participated in the festival in their traditional dresses and performing folk dances. Banjara community is celebrating the festival with folk songs and traditional lengi dance. Due to election season, politicians are utilizing this opportunity to mingle with people.
