India’s Manu Bhaker has secured a place in the final of the women’s 10 meter Air Pistol event, finishing third with an impressive total score of 580 points and 27 inner in the qualifying event in Paris Olympics. However Bhaker’s compatriot Rhythm Sangwan failed to make the cut after ending in 15th place. Earlier, both Indian Teams bowed out of Medal contention in 10m Mixed Team Air Rifle competition. Team 1 comprising of Sandeep Singh and Elavenil Valarivan finished 12th and Team 2 comprising of Arjun Babuta and Ramita Jindal finished 6th in Qualification Round. In the Men’s Single Sculls event, India’s lone rower Balraj Panwar, finished 4th and will now participate in the repechage round tomorrow. In Table Tennis, Harmeet Desai defeated Jordan’s Yaman Zaid Jor Abo 11-7, 11-9, 11-5 and 11-5 in the men’s singles event to qualify for the round of 64.
In Badminton, ace shuttler Lakshya Sen defeated Kevin Cordon in the men’s singles group stage match 21-8, 22-20 this evening. In the men’s doubles category, India’s top pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are facing France’s Lucas Corvee and Ronan Labar in their opening match. In the women’s doubles category, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto will play against the Korean pair of Kim So-yeong and Kong Hee-yong in their first group stage match tonight. In Hockey, after the historic bronze finish in the Tokyo Olympics, the Indian men’s team will aim to change the color of their medal as they start their journey against New Zealand in a Pool B match at 9 PM. In Boxing, Preeti Pawar will be up against Vietnam’s Vo Thi Kim Anh in the women’s 54kg round of 32 clash.
