Mansukh Mandaviya flags off inaugural edition of Indian Navy Half Marathon

Union Sports Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya today flagged off the inaugural edition of the Indian Navy Half Marathon in New Delhi. Athletes from different age groups and professional backgrounds demonstrated their endurance, determination, and sportsmanship in this event. Over 10,000 participants competed across three race categories which are 21.1 km, 10 km, and 5 km runs.

 

The event took place at the iconic Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, with the race route covering India Gate and the historic Kartavya Path. The Chief of the Defence Staff, Chief of the Naval Staff, Chief of the Air Staff, senior service officials, and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

       

This landmark event aimed to promote health and fitness amongst participants from all walks of life , encouraging them to embrace physical activity and adopt an active lifestyle for overall well-being. It also fostered a sense of camaraderie and competition, bringing people together to forge stronger bonds with the Indian Navy.

       

In the 21.1 km (Half Marathon), Kulbir Singh won the Men’s Open Category, and Vrinda Bhandari won the Women’s Open Category. In the 10 km marathon, Prakash Deshmukh won the Men’s Open Category, and Kavita won the Women’s Open Category. In the 5 km category, Gaurav Kasana won the Men’s Open Category, and Anjali won the Women’s Open Category. The winners in each category showcased outstanding physical and mental resilience, setting an example for future participants.
