Manipur: State govt team reaches Jiribam, distributes relief materials to villagers taking shelter in relief camps

In Manipur, a state government team led by the IFCD minister reached the Jiribam district and started distribution of relief materials to the villagers taking shelter in different relief camps.

 

Violence broke out in Jiribam from the evening of the 6th of this month and number of houses and government properties had been burnt and damaged by miscreants. Around nine hundred fifty villagers including children are taking shelter in seven relief camps set up in the districts.

 

The Manipur Chief Minister is likely to visit Jiribam soon.

 

Speaking to media persons, the minister said that adequate security measures have been put in place to bring normalcy in the district. Those houses which had been burnt down in the violence will be reconstructed with assistance from the State Government. He also appeals to all to remain calm and cooperate with the government agencies including security forces who have been trying to bring normalcy in the district.
