Manipur observes Patriots' Day

Manipur observed the Patriots' Day on Sunday remembering those martyrs who laid down their lives during the Anglo-Manipuri War, in 1891. The observation was held at various places in the within and outside the State where Manipuris live. The district administrations also observed the day in different districts of the State today.
 
The State level observation was held at Bir Tikendrajit Part in Imphal in which Manipur Governor Sushri Anusuiya Uikey and Chief Minister N. Biren Singh led others in paying floral tributes. A contingent of Manipur Rifles also gave a gun salute. Early in the morning, Mr Singh paid floral tributes to last rites memorial sites of Yubaraj Tikendrajit and Thangal General who were hanged to death by the Britisher on August, 13, 1891.
