In Manipur, State Water Resources and Relief & Disaster Management Minister Awangbow Newmai inaugurated the Right to Information Week Celebration 2023 today at the Auditorium Hall of the State Directorate of Information & Public Relations in Imphal.
 
The function was organized by Manipur Information Commission with the objective of popularising the RTI Act, 2005 with sponsorship from the Department of Personnel & Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pension.
 
Addressing the gathering, Minister Awangbow Newmai said that the Right to Information Act is an important Act and it helps in bringing transparency and accountability for good governance. He also said that the public should be involved in controlling the misuse of the RTI Act for personal gains.
 
In connection with the celebration, a State Level Workshop was held and eminent advocates and journalists gave lectures on the RTI Act, of 2005.
The inaugural session of the celebration was attended by State Chief Information Commissioners and other civil officers.
