In Manipur, the festival of lights, Diwali, is being celebrated today in all valley districts with religious fervour and gaiety. The festival is celebrated on the New Moon day of the Mera month of the Meitei calendar. As part of the festival, households decorated their homes, shops, and offices. Manipur Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya celebrated Diwali with CRPF jawans in the Senapati district today.

During his visit, the Governor also inaugurated an exhibition-cum-traditional food buffet held with the theme of peace through culture and identity, organised at the Astro Turf Ground at the district headquarters. Manipur Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Chief Minister N. Biren Singh, and other leaders extended greetings to the people on the occasion of Diwali.
