In Mali, Prime Minister Choguel Maiga has been fired by the ruling Junta, days after criticizing the military regime in the country, said the state Television. Choguel Maiga had criticized the ruling Junta’s failure to bring back democracy and to organise elections by March 2024. Maiga alleged that the elections have been postponed indefinitely, with General Assimi Goita continuing as interim president. The junta, led by General Goita, took power of Mali after back-to-back coups in 2020 and 2021.
