Maldives has invited bids for installing a wind-energy power generation system in Noonu Atoll, Manadhoo, under the ASSURE project. The initiative aims to expand renewable energy infrastructure in the island nation. The project will be funded by the Maldives government and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The initiative is part of the Accelerating Sustainable System Development Using Renewable Energy abbreviated as ASSURE project.

Maldives had signed an agreement with ADB last December for 75 million US Dollars to advance renewable energy projects, including wind-based systems on local islands and regulatory enhancements.
