The Maldivian Minister for Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer and his Sri Lankan Counterpart M.U.M. Ali Sabry addressed the media on Wednesday (5th June 2024) highlighting the close collaboration between the two countries. Mr. Zameer mentioned that Maldives and Sri Lanka share a strong and historic relationship based on mutual trust, respect and understanding. He added that the two ministers discussed further enhancement bilateral relations in the areas of mutual interest, including economic cooperation, health, education, fisheries, youth and sports, and social protection.
Mr. Zameer is on a three day visit to Sri Lanka during which he is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.
Earlier last month, Mr. Zameer paid an official visit to New Delhi and held discussions on bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest with India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.
