A Mahatma Gandhi Oration was held today at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre in Colombo. The event was organised by the cultural arm of the High Commission of India in Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka India Society. Speaking at the occasion, Former High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to India Austin Fernando mentioned that the Mahatma was the poor man’s saviour during the freedom struggle as the poor do not experience equality, justice and fairness.

Earlier today morning, Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya and High Commissioner Jha paid floral tributes to the father of the nation. They garlanded a bust of Mahatma Gandhi at the Prime Minister’s Office in Colombo.
