Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced today that the central government has allocated a budget of 15 thousand 940 crores rupees for Maharashtra for the financial year 2024-25, marking a 13.5 per cent increase compared to the budget under the previous NDA government.

Minister Vaishnaw noted that stalled projects in the railway department, including land acquisition, are progressing more rapidly under the leadership of Eknath Shinde and Devendra Fadnavis. He highlighted that Maharashtra has increased its railway track construction to 183 km per year, compared to 50-60 km per year under the NDA rule. Mr Vaishnav underscored that Maharashtra is 100 per cent electrified.

Additionally, Mr Vaishnaw mentioned that 128 railway stations are being redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat station scheme in the state. 929 railway flyovers and under bridges constructed since 2014.

The minister stated that work on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project in Maharashtra has accelerated over the past two years.

The minister announced that 10 projects are currently underway in Mumbai to enhance the railway system and address travel gaps. These initiatives aim to reduce the interval between two trains from 180 seconds to 150 seconds over the next five years.
