All market committees across Maharashtra have called off the ‘bandh’ scheduled for tomorrow, August 27. This decision came after a meeting between merchants’ representatives and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, which was also attended by Minister of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation Mangal Prabhat Lodha. During the meeting, it was decided to form a high-level committee to address various issues faced by merchants. The committee will submit its report within a month. Maharashtra State Merchants’ Action Committee Chairperson Lalit Gandhi stated that the decision regarding Cess tax will be made after reviewing the committee’s report. The GROMA had initially called for the one-day ‘bandh’ to address several pending demands.
