Maharashtra govt waives off stamp duty required for affidavits; easy fin burden on students

Maharashtra’s government today announced the waiver of the 500 rupees stamp duty previously required for submitting affidavits while applying for essential documents such as caste certificates, income certificates, and nationality certificates. Maharashtra Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule said that under the new rule, applicants no longer need to pay the stamp duty for affidavits. Our correspondent reports that the decision will significantly ease the financial burden on students, who often require multiple certificates.
