Maharashtra Govt Ready for Budget Session Talks; Opposition Boycotts Tea Party

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured that the government is prepared to discuss all bills during the session and that the opposition will be given an opportunity to speak. While addressing a press conference on the eve of the budget session, Fadnavis stated that the government aims to present a balanced budget.

The state cabinet’s budget session is set to begin tomorrow (March 3), starting with an address by Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan. The state budget for the upcoming year will be presented in both houses of the legislature on March 10. Today, the opposition parties in Maharashtra boycotted the tea party organized on the eve of the budget session at Sahyadri’s guest house in Mumbai.

Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar said that the government is prepared to answer every question raised during the session and will not push proceedings forward solely on the strength of its majority. He criticized the opposition for boycotting the Tea Party, calling it a break from an unwritten tradition.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde also stated that the ruling Mahayuti alliance received overwhelming support in the assembly elections, making it difficult for the opposition to secure a strong leadership position. He added that during the previous tenure, the Mahayuti government worked rapidly and revived several projects that the Maha Vikas Aghadi government had stalled.
