In his condolence message, Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan described S. M. Krishna as a popular figure in the politics of Karnataka and the country. Reflecting on his extensive political journey, Mr. Radhakrishnan stated that Mr. Krishna upheld the post of Governor with distinction when he was serving as the governor of Maharashtra. With his passing, he said, the country has lost an erudite and cultured leader who had a keen interest in literature, tennis, and classical music.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised the late S. M. Krishna as a visionary leader focused on development, highlighting his contributions to university reforms. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, in his condolence message, stated that with Mr. Krishna’s death, the country has lost a link to the generation that pioneered the development of modern India. He added that Mr. Krishna had understood the future path of India’s development and that his vision will continue to guide the country like a lighthouse.
Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar emphasised the late S. M. Krishna’s contribution to transforming Bengaluru into a technology hub and his guidance to other states on the path to development. S. M. Krishna served as the governor of Maharashtra from 2004 to 2008.
