In Maharashtra, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has appealed to maintain social harmony and peace in the State while reiterating that the State government is determined to provide reservation in jobs and education to the Maratha community. The Chief Minister informed that the State government is taking concrete action on most of the demands of Jarange Patil and Maratha reservation protesters. He also announced that immediate action would be taken on the demands made regarding Sarathi and Annasaheb Economic Backward Development Corporation. Mr. Shinde further informed that the facilities being provided to the Maratha community are similar to the OBC community.
Earlier, Maratha activist Manoj Jarange Patil broke his fast today after a discussion with Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who visited Maharashtra’s Jalna with Union Minister of State Raosaheb Danve and other State Cabinet colleagues. Mr. Patil had been on an indefinite hunger strike since the 29th of August, demanding reservation for the Maratha community.
