Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced yesterday a compensation of five lakh rupees for the kin of each of the deceased victims of the fire at a residential building at Goregaon in Mumbai. He also announced medical treatment at government expense to the injured.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited the Hindu Hrudayasmarat Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Care Centre and inquired about the citizens injured in the fire at Jai Bhawani SRA building in Unnat Nagar, Goregaon.'
The Chief Minister told media that, the incident will be thoroughly investigated and once the report is received, further action will be taken. He further directed to expedite Fire audits of buildings like SRA so that such incidents could be taken care of in the future.
As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, seven people were killed and over 40 injured in a massive fire in Goregaon. Fire officials said that about 30 residents were rescued from the terrace and different floors of the building.
