In Maharashtra, to mark the simultaneous occurrence of Anant Chaturdashi and Eid-e-Milad on Thursday, the 28th of September, the State government has declared Friday, the 29th of September, as a government holiday.
This decision aims to facilitate the efficient management of crowds and procession arrangements during the Ganesha immersion and Eid-e-Milad celebrations.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has appealed to Ganesha devotees to ensure that the Ganesh immersion and Eid celebrations proceed peacefully and harmoniously. The CM also said that all of us should celebrate upcoming festivals with unity and devotion, further enriching the State's traditions.

This year the auspicious occasion of Eid-e-Milad and the Conclusion of Ganeshotsav coincide on the same day tomorrow. The Muslim organisations in the State have decided to observe the Eid procession on Friday.
Muslim organisations in Maharashtra have decided to push the annual Eid-e-Milad processions by a day to ensure that Ganesh immersion processions pass off peacefully on the 28th of September. In this context, the executive committee of the All India Khilafat, trustees of mosques, and some prominent Muslim citizens met CM Shinde in Mumbai today. They advocated for a government holiday on the 29th of September to ensure the maintenance of peace in the State and enable effective coordination of the police force for crowd control and procession management. Meanwhile, all the districts and city administrations in the State have announced steps to meet environment balance and social solidarity to mark the occasion.
