In Ladakh, the Lieutenant Governor of UT Ladakh Dr.B D Mishra inaugurated the 2nd edition of five- day Himalayan Film Festival 2023 at Leh Sindhu Sankrti Kendra yesterday. CEC Leh Tashi Gyaltson also graced the event. The five-day event opened with the screening of Netflix India's Jaane Jaan' directed by Sujoy Ghosh starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Jaideep Ahlawat, and Vijay Varma, and Ladakhi Short Film, 'Last Days of Summer,' directed by Ladakhi Filmmaker Stanzin Tanking.
On the occasion, "the Carnival of Ladakh" a calendar of festivals of Ladakh held in the month of September, was also unveiled by the Hon'ble LG Ladakh. The objective of the festival is to promote budding Ladakhi filmmakers and provide an opportunity for them to showcase their talent and nurture it further through learning and networking experience, and also to connect the sparsely located Himalayan filmmaking community. The Festival is being organised by the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) of the Administration of Union Territory of Ladakh in collaboration with Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) Leh.
