Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has said that India is witnessing a new era where women are assuming leadership roles at every level, from grassroots democracy to the highest positions of power. Speaking at an event organized at Parliament House on the occasion of International Women’s Day, Mr. Birla emphasised that as the nation celebrates 75 years of the Indian Constitution, it is essential to recognise the immense contributions of the 15 women members of the Constituent Assembly.
He highlighted that their vision and dedication helped shape India’s democratic framework, laying the foundation for gender equality, inclusive governance, and women’s empowerment. He said their contributions continue to inspire the nation and serve as a guiding force for future generations. He further noted that International Women’s Day is an occasion to express gratitude to ‘Matri Shakti’ for their unparalleled service to society and the nation.
On the occasion, the Lok Sabha Speaker also inaugurated an exhibition on Women Members of the Constituent Assembly at the Parliament House Complex. The exhibition commemorates 75 years of the Constitution of India and aims to engage the public by raising awareness about the significant contributions of these 15 women members, highlighting their invaluable role in shaping the Constitution.
