Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla today highlighted the need to use technology and AI for record-keeping, making debates and speeches in Parliament. He was speaking at the Governing Council meeting of the 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, IPU in Geneva. Mr Birla is leading the Indian Parliamentary Delegation to the Assembly of the IPU. He noted that the world parliamentary fraternity had appreciated India’s initiatives of a green, tech-driven, and paperless Parliament.
Mr. Birla emphasized that Indian Delegation focused on key global issues at the Assembly where India has made notable progress. The Indian Delegation’s contributions included sharing best practices, reinforcing India’s global commitments, and engaging in collaborative policy discussions. He further observed that IPU is a productive forum for advancing global commitments to inclusive growth through parliamentary cooperation.
During the Assembly, the Indian Parliamentary Delegation made extensive outreach to numerous countries reinforcing and strengthening ties with them and fostering Parliament-to-Parliament relations. The 149th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union which commenced on the 13th of this month concluded today.
